Little Miss Jessica Mauboy has certainly done some growing up since her Australian Idol days. Don't get me wrong - her debut album, Been Waiting, was one of the finest pop/R&B albums from any Australian Idol alumni we've seen. It was polished, appealed the right audience, and saw J Mau clock up 6x hit singles (Burn reaching #1); with plenty of awards in tow.
Additionally, let's not forget how commerically successful the album was, selling in excess of 140,000 copies in Australia alone, scoring a 2x platinum certification.
Jump forward to today and Jess releases the lead single of her next studio album, Get 'Em Girls, which features none other than the California Gurl lover Snoop Dogg. The track was released to the Australian iTunes store today and the album (carrying the same title) is released in Australia on November 5th.
The track, with its sexy beats and attitude, was produced by Bangladesh - who's worked with artists such as Beyonce, Ludacris, Missy Elliott and MIA. In my opinion it's right where J Mau needs to be - still sexy, yet grown up just that fraction more. Think the likes of Ms Sacha Fierce herself, that's what I'm talking about.
You can hear the track on Jess's website here, and purchase the single from iTunes here. Stay tuned for the video which i'll post as soon I as I can get my hands on it!
