Gee, a lot can happen in four days. New album previews, leaks of new tracks, snippets of exclusive video clips, concert ticket releases... phew, I'm exhausted just catching up! Of course one of the biggest things to hit the world of music in the last few days would have to be Lady Gaga's album artwork for Born This Way. Yes, that's right, the album artwork. Not the actual album itself, JUST THE ARTWORK.

You see, following on from the internet leak of her latest single Judas, which was then rushed to digital retailers globally within hours (preview here), Gaga decided she would also provide the world with the cover art of her much anticipated Born This Way release (due May 23rd).

Fans, bloggers and critics alike were all in despair upon the release of the artwork, above, which features Lady Gaga's head and arms as part of a motorcycle ensemble. There were loads of "WTF" statements circling the internet, along with cries of "Noooooooooo!" For the most part people were trying to figure out the connection between Gaga and a motorcycle. But you see, that's the point. There is no connection.

Lady Gaga, with the assistance from Nick Knight and the Haus of Gaga, have delivered a piece of visual candy that means absolutely nothing. And you know what, who cares? Don't get me wrong - I heart Gaga more than most of you can imagine - but that's why she's a genius. She could release a picture of an orangutan shitting on a yellow Mercedes Benz with a half-naked parking inspector writing out a ticket and say that was the Born This Way cover. You/me/we would still love her. Full stop.

What has happened here, whether O Weird One has done this purposely or not, is that a frenzy has been created just about an album's cover art, without even getting to the actual music listed on the damn disc. All that JUST FOR A PICTURE. Now, imagine what will happen when the actual music is released. Heavens forbid. Really now, who is the clever one hey?

I love the fact there has been all this fuss about it. Now with my paws up, she just better deliver on the music side or I will just have to start looking out for that orangutan. Go Mother Motor-Monster. Vroom, vroom, vroom.
