There are a million different podcasts out there catering to your every desire. Whether it be for educational purposes, radio playbacks, or a variety of music genres - you could spend hours wading your way through the vast selection.

So... I'm determined to make that job a little easier for you. I'll be reviewing some of the greatest podcasts made available online. Those podcasts will be that of which when you listen to the heart and soul recorded in each session, your life will instantly becomes better.

First installment of [PODCAST SESSIONS] is a local DJ who I've been following since his very first podcast back in December 2009. His name, is Kam Shafaati.

Shafaati has featured on this blog before, in it's very early days. I'd written about my love for his guilty pleasure and how each of you should look out for him on the music scene. You see, apart from delivering outstanding musical delights via podcasts, Shafaati is also a resident DJ at The Laid Hotel in Melbourne, and a regular guest DJ at many local and international dance parties.

Since my previous blog about this young hottie and his tunes, Shafaati has played at a range of global events including the world famous Bearracuda, the largest bear dance party in the United States, during the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco; and of course Sydney's iconic Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras at the official after party.

Shafaati takes you on a musical journey when you listen to his sessions. They're predominately based on progressive house music, but there are definite shades and themes portrayed in each of his podcasts.

In a recent interview with SameSame.com.au he informs us:
"There’s a light and dark side to my musical style. I love playing everything from uplifting house to deep, dark and dirty progressive. Music that plays on your emotions. Whether it takes you up or down, it needs to pull at your heart strings and take you on a journey. I look for energetic progression, deep clean sounds, catchy melodies and, depending on the song, complimenting vocals."
Releasing a new session every month or so, I'd safely say that if we were in the era of vinyl, I'd have worn out my collection of Shafaati's music, twice over. Each session is pure house brilliance at it's finest. If you haven't already subscribed to this talented man's podcasts, best you do it now.

5 September 2010

There really is nothing like a good find. You know, when you're out shopping and you find a great bargain. Or you're in a different neighbourhood and you find awesome coffee.

Much goes the same for music with me - I get a little tingling feeling (keep it clean please) everytime I find a great new track, an awesome video clip, or in this case, a down-right brilliant DJ and podcast.

Enter DJ Kam Shafaati.

Kam is a Melbourne boy who plays a regular spot at The Laird Hotel in Melbourne, and from what I've learned, is a crowd favourite. Kam's life in the DJ scene is quite short in comparison to some of his DJ peers, however he's managed to clock up some brilliant opportunities in that time - and to quote his website:
"Kam has been offered multiple high profile dance party gigs including BearNation, Trough X and FUR in Melbourne; as well as Inquisition, Bear Pride and Extra Dirty in Sydney. Kam has also been approached by international promoters and has been booked to play at Bearracuda, the largest bear dance party in the United States, during this year’s Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco, California"
I'm not even entirely sure how I stumbled upon Kam's podcasts, but I did, I love them, and I haven't looked back. So, what better way to share the love than right here.

If you love progressive house music like me, do yourself a favour and download his podcasts NOW.

Kam's website is here, his Facebook fan page is here and his iTunes podcasts can be found here. Done, now you have no excuses!
