IT'S OFFICIAL - AUSTRALIA LOVES P!NK AND P!NK LOVES GAY MARRIAGE

To be honest I think we already knew that Australia seems to be mesmerised by P!nk - after launching it here on this blog, P!nk's latest single Raise Your Glass was rushed to digital media and within 24 hours of doing so, was #1 on iTunes Australia.

If the single stays at the top of the iTunes chart for another 24 hours (very, very likely), P!nk will have scored herself her fourth #1 single in Australia, knocking Rihanna from the top spot with her latest single Only Girl (In The World). Of course we'll need to wait 'til Sunday for the "official" announcement as ARIA post this weeks results on their site.

The track, which was penned by P!nk herself and pop master Max Martin (responsible for way to many pop smash hits to mention, working with artists such as Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Taio Cruz, Adam Lambert, etc) is taken from her greatest hits album to be released in Australia on November 15, titled Greatest Hits... So Far!

After chatting with MTV.com a few days ago, P!nk revealed info about the video clip, which started shooting on October 4:

"I will be celebrating a gay wedding [in the video]," she said of the clip, which she said was shooting this week. "I am not the minister. ... There's so many [celebrations]. Of course typical psychotic me, it's 80,000 different things going on."

Pink said the video's theme was inspired by real-life experience. "I threw my best friend's wedding in my backyard — [she] is gay and she married her wife, and it was absolutely beautiful," she recalled. "At the end of it, her mom said, 'Why can't this be legal?' and started crying. It was just the most heartbreaking thing I've ever seen, so that's why I'm doing it in my video. "

Well surprise, surprise. Another super star supporting gay marriage. I swear, if this country's government (ie: Gillard - yes YOU) doesn't hurry the bejesus up and move past their ignorant, Neanderthal laws... well, well... I might just burst out in song.

Squeal!

I'm not really sure how else I'm meant to react here... Princess Robyn has delivered yet another fine moment of dance-pop heaven on this brilliant remix of her acoustic track Indestructible (taken from Body Talk Pt 2). This version I've managed to score is remixed by none other than two wonderful boys - Max Sanna and Steve Pitron.

Apparently this is not the finished, polished version; however I've been led to believe Indestructible will be released as Robyn's next single off the Body Talk series of albums. No "official" word yet, but will certainly post when I know more.

For now, bask in the glory that is Robyn. Oh, much love.

Gaga? Yes. Good? Yes. New? No.

So this has been circulating 'round the 'net over last few days, and the jury is out.

Is it Lady Gaga? Hell yeah - either that or she has a darn good impersonator out there. One she may like to find. And potentially get rid of.

Is it good? Hell yeah again. I'd go as far as saying it's better than good. Catchy, infectious and very pop.

Is it new? My verdict - no. Whilst it's good (I've already played it way too many times, confirming yes, I'm a homo); it certainly doesn't sound like anything developed/new/ground-breaking. What it does sound like is a cut track from The Fame. Very Gaga, but very 2008.

Pendulum's Island

Pendulum, our very own boys from Perth, have released the third single off their #1 UK album, Immersion. Following the lead single, Watercolour, which scored the boys their very first UK top 5 hit; and Witchcraft which scored them a UK top 30 hit; The Island Pt 1 is released.

Personally it's one of my favourites off their album. The Island is split in two parts, Dawn (Pt 1) and Dusk (Pt 2), with Dawn (Pt 1) being released as the official single and featuring in the video clip (below).

And, in case you've been living under some mossy rock and haven't been following our Aussie legends of drum 'n bass, the group with vocals led by Rob Swire (yes, he's responsible for the vocals on Deadmau5's Ghosts 'n Stuff - mega club smash) formed in 2002 in Perth, and have released 3 commercial studio albums, with their current release clearly winning them goals globally.

If you love the track below, grab the album - it's a hot piece of property that is great for a Saturday night lead in to party time. Enjoy!

KATY PERRY'S "FIREWORK" AND TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT

What a busy week in the world of (dirty, silly, pop) music. While we still have Katy Perry's infectious  track California Gurls still playing on radios nation-wide and sitting pretty in the ARIA top 20; plus her Teenage Dream track quite comfortably resting in the ARIA top 10 - Katy prepares us with the third single from her Teenage Dream album, Firework.

The track is a "never-let-go-you're-an-amazing-person" kinda anthem, with a good beat and lyrics that'll get stuck in your head like the previous singles. I received word of the single launch this week, and unlike Teenage Dream (which I actually loathed when it was released), I actually like this song.

There have been snippets of the clip released (featured below), so I expect that I'll receive the full video in the coming week or so. Stay tuned.

In other news Mrs Russell Brand has just released dates for her Californian Dreams tour in Europe, however no dates set for Australia yet. Expect these in the next few weeks also. Enjoy.

Remix me baby - The Temper Trap

If you're anything like me (God, sorry if you are) you'll love a bit of remixing... especially when the remixed track features an artist with great vocals (and not some trashy-over-done-wanna-be-pop-artist-who's-been-auto-tuned : insert a number of names here).

Over very own The Temper Trap, who graced us with some of the best tracks from the last 24 months, Sweet Disposition and Love Lost just to name two of them, will be releasing a remixed version of their debut album, Conditions. The track listing features remixes by some if the biggest names in the business including Rollo & Sister Bliss (of Faithless) and Adam Freeland.

The album was released last month in the UK, and to be honest I wasn't sure if we were going to get the release here, but it seems we are. I don't have details on when as of yet, but will happily post online when I find out.

Sweet Disposition truly is a brilliant song and has been on heavy rotation in my music collection for some time now. It didn't help that when I saw these guys live, twice (Big Day Out 2010 and a separate show in August), they were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

Let's see if they can lock Sweet Disposition remixed in my music collection another year or so...

SERIOUSLY UNDERRATED STARS #79 - KELIS

Yes, seriously.

Over the last few years Kelis has had her share of ups-and-downs in the music world, you'd agree. Everyone remembers her hot debut Caught Out There (off her album Kaleidoscope) and her mega smash hit Milkshake (off her album Tasty); but sadly, Kelis seems to be forgotten in some places on this earth with her recent delivery - the Flesh Tone album.

Don't get me wrong, we love Kelis' earlier stuff. Caught Out There was an anthem for a whole range of genres with the "I hate you so much right now" lyrics being screamed from a variety of gay boys and indie-pop junkies alike.

The same with Milkshake - it was heard on the lips of anyone and everyone who wanted you to know that they brought their milkshake to the yard. I know I certainly brought mine, hell yeah.

But let's talk Flesh Tone. Written and produced by David Guetta with help from Benny Benassi, Tocadisco, Jean Baptiste and Boys Noize; you'd wonder what could possible go wrong. Apparently, a lot!

Acapella was released as the lead single. It is full of Guetta's signature thumpin' beats; Kelis' rough, sexy vocals; fit with one of the hottest videos of this decade. For me, it's one of the best songs of this year - easily top 5. Chart performance? Meh. It barely touched the sides, apart from the UK where it reached the top 5.

I'm talking about what should have been a mega smash here people! What's wrong with the world - THIS SONG IS AMAZING.

Anyway.

Acapella was followed with 4th of July (Fireworks), and as of now, Scream. Both are great tracks, however the "rumoured" forth single, Brave, is what I'm waiting for.

Short summary - the album is an ass-moving, leg-shaking, heart-thumping, smile-making must for anyone wanting to pump more than Shania Twain when they're running around vacuuming half naked (it works for me anyway). Do yourselves a favour and buy it.

*BRAND NEW* P!nk / Raise Your Glass

P!nk is set to release her new single, Raise Your Glass, which was today serviced to Australian radio.

The new track is lifted off P!nk's greatest hits compilation that will be launched early November titled Greatest Hits... So Far!

I haven't heard the track as of yet, but knowing how much this country loves P!nk, I'm pretty confident it'll be another smash hit.

Australia really seems to have adopted Ms Moore, with her 2 previous albums - Funhouse and I'm Not Dead - both achieving 11x platinum sales here (in excess of 770,000 copies).

Burlesque - another clip!

Burlesque opens Boxing Day in Australia, and if you can disregard what the haters are saying, it's going to be a slammin' show - especially if Christina Aguilera's efforts below are anything to go by.

Can't wait!

SKY FERREIRA AND "OBSESSION" - HOW VERY GEN Y OF ME

Sometimes I think there is a little Gen Y boy trapped inside this great big piece of Gen X man hunk. Today, that thought couldn't be any more prominent when I stumbled upon the new Sky Ferreira single, Obsession, which is featured on the new The Vampire Diaries soundtrack.

The track, which reeks of Ke$ha if you ask me, is kinda hot - I gotta admit it. What's even hotter is that the 2-minute-something video I've posted below features snippets from season 2 of The Vampire Diaries. Damn. Damn Damian, Damn.

The official video for Obsession is available on Sky's official site, however I can't decide which is my favourite - the original clip, or the one below... actually, it's the one below.
