ARIA REVEAL THEIR TOP 100 SINGLES AND ALBUMS FOR 2012

ARIA, the Australian Recording Industry Association, have revealed their top 100 singles and albums for 2012. The charts, which we re released this morning, provide a list based on the total sales of singles and albums across Australia for the year.

We thought we'd take a look at what fabulous pop representation there was in the singles mix, to celebrate the year which was dominated by quite a lot of good music (and of course, some really bad music). But first, let's take a look at the top ten:

Coming in at #1 for the year we have Carly Rae Jepsen's smash "Call Me Maybe." The track, which achieved a 8x platinum-selling status (for over 560,000 copies sold) beat Psy's "Gangnam Style" to the summit. Coming in at #3 was the highest selling single by an Australian artist, Guy Sebastian, with his 7x platinum-selling single "Battle Scars" featuring Lupe Fiasco.

US rapper Flo Rida secured the next two spots with his hits "Whistle" and "Wild Ones," with Nicki Minaj's annoyingly-catchy "Starships" locked in at #6. Australia's Got Talent winners Justice Crew earned their stripes at #7 with "Boom Boom," and Birdy's surprise hit "Skinny Love," riding on the success of Bella Feraro's X Factor Australia performance, came in at #8.

Rounding off the top ten we have the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' hit "Thrift Shop" and Swedish House Mafia's send-off "Don't You Worry Child" at #9 and #10 respectively.

[WATCH] SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA PREMIERE "DON'T YOU WORRY CHILD" VIDEO FEAT. JOHN MARTIN

Powerhouse DJs, producers and all-round superstars Swedish House Mafia have premiered the video for "Don't You Worry Child" featuring the vocals of John Martin. Martin also produced the vocals for the group's hit "Save The World."

And yes, to confirm the statement at the beginning of the video - the boys have officially called it a day as the group known as Swedish House Mafia. No, we're not really sure what to do either... life... seems... meaningless...

[VIDEO PREMIERE] SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA "GREYHOUND"

Swedish DJ trio Swedish House Mafia have unveiled "Greyhound," the third single to be lifted from the group's upcoming second studio album "One Night Stand." The track follows the UK top ten hits "Save The World" and "Antidote" (with Knife Party).

The thumpin' club track is yet another masterpiece from the SHM boys, one fans will no doubt be very happy with. The clip, which you can watch in full below, is yet another interesting clip with creativity we're sure was inspired by a mix of the Transformers and Lady Gaga!

[VIDEO PREMIERE] SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA VS KNIFE PARTY "ANTIDOTE"

The boys from Swedish House Mafia return with mates Knife Party (Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen from Australian dance act Pendulum) for the latest smash to to be taken from their upcoming One Night Stand album, Antidote.

The track follows the mega club hit Save The World, which scored the group yet another UK top ten single.

The video for Antidote features quite a lot of nudity and violence in a Smack My Bitch Up style (The Prodigy) filmclip directed by BBGUN. There's lots going on, but I'll let you watch the clip rather than give it all away.

Who's gonna save the world? Swedish House Mafia will!

I can't believe I missed posting about this. Shesh, what kinda blog am I? After previewing the track back in May, the video appeared not long after - but of course after my whirlwind trip of a lifetime across the globe, I've missed blogging about it.

Swedish House Mafia have returned with Save The World, and I would say, have returned with the Video of the Year. Big statement. To repeat and place in bold just to prove I'm serious - Video of the Year. I won't tell you why, however I'll let you watch the clip so you'll understand.

To the boys from SHM - Thom would be proud.

[FRESH RELEASE] Swedish House Mafia // Save The World

The boys from Swedish House Mafia have served up quite an offering. A full lyric video has been posted online for their much anticipated, latest smash - Save The World. The track features fellow Swede John Martin on vocals.

The track is the first of new material to surface in 2011, following on from the worldwide success of One (Your Name) and Miami 2 Ibiza. Great, great work I say. Can't wait for the new album.

I have so much love for these guys, it's not even funny. So, you can imagine how stoked I was to hear a snippet off their latest single via BBC Radio 1 this week.

Of course I'm talking about the Swedish House Mafia, consisting of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. The boys are back with a new track - Save The World - featuring the vocals of John Martin.

Better Than Today? No. Kylie's management, you need to call me. Now.

Seriously, I swear Kylie Minogue's management and record company are out to get her. They can be forgiven for releasing All The Lovers as the lead single off Aphrodite (but only just). It is a good track, with it's easy-pop chorus and awesome video clip.

What they can't be forgiven for is releasing Get Outta My Way, remixes and all, weeks and weeks after the hype of the bloody song (causing it to be one of her worst charting singles ever). And, Get Outta My Way clearly has one of Kylie's best video clips of all time.

AND NOW, what they can't be forgiven for AGAIN is announcing that Better Than Today is the third official single off the album.

WHAT THE FUCK?

Yeah alright, the Nerina Pallot penned track is ok. It's a little different with it's kinda country techno vibe, but seriously guys, there are a million better tracks on the album worth releasing.

Cue: Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love) written by Australia's own Nervo twins. Or Cupid Boy written by Luciana and Sebastian Ingrosso (of Swedish House Mafia). Or even Too Much penned by Jake Shears (of Scissor Sisters) and Calvin Harris for fucks sake.

BUT NO, THEY WANT TO RELEASE BETTER THAN TODAY. SEND KYLIE TO THE REAR END OF POP CHART HISTORY WHY DON'T YOU PEOPLE. FUCKING HELL!

Axwell's got nothing but love for you. True story.

One-third of the infamous Swedish House Mafia, Axwell, has been tempting our little booties with this number for a while now. Well my bootie anyway, it's beena-shakin' non-stop to this track.

Anyway.

In his latest solo production, Axwell employs the vocals of Errol Reid (think Feel the Vibe from 2004, before it had the revamp with Tara McDonald's vocals in 2005). It's a typical Axwell vibe - good beats that make ya shake (see above paragraph for evidence of my booty-shakin'), and good lyrics/vocals that you can sing-a-long to (for evidence of that, you should listen to me in the shower. I sound awwwwwwesome).

The clip, well, ummm, not sure. I don't really get it. There's a guy. He meets other guys. They go out. They dance. And then, well, he leaves. Maybe it's meant to be that simple. Hmmm. Maybe I'm missing something. Watch it, and if I am, please tell me!

Swedish House Mafia vs Tinie Tempah / Miami 2 Ibiza

There's not a lot not to like about this track - the ever brilliant Swedish House Mafia (Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso) team up with another great UK export (one whom Australia is really yet to recognise if you ask me), Tinie Tempah.

The tune is Miami 2 Ibiza, and it's BIG. It has the beats and feel that makes SHM's One (Your Name) hot, and Tinie's vocals/rap that set it off. Clubs across Australia (and the globe actually) are floggin' this baby more than that dirty horse that won last weeks Melbourne Cup.

Miami 2 Ibiza scored Tinie yet another top 5 track in his homeland, following the success of his previous singles Frisky (#2), and Pass Out and Written in the Stars feat. Eric Turner, both of which went to #1. This gives the boys from Swedish House Mafia their first top 5 hit in the UK. Additionally, the track is starting to make some waves on the ARIA charts here locally.

It's also the third single from their album, Until One (released a few weeks ago), following Leave the World Behind with Laidback Luke feat. Deborah Cox and One (Your Name) feat. Pharrell.

My wrap up - I lurve this track. I've been floggin' it all mornin' (the track thanks, keep it clean you filthy bastards). Hope you like.
