ARIA REVEAL THEIR TOP 100 SINGLES AND ALBUMS FOR 2012

ARIA, the Australian Recording Industry Association, have revealed their top 100 singles and albums for 2012. The charts, which we re released this morning, provide a list based on the total sales of singles and albums across Australia for the year.

We thought we'd take a look at what fabulous pop representation there was in the singles mix, to celebrate the year which was dominated by quite a lot of good music (and of course, some really bad music). But first, let's take a look at the top ten:

Coming in at #1 for the year we have Carly Rae Jepsen's smash "Call Me Maybe." The track, which achieved a 8x platinum-selling status (for over 560,000 copies sold) beat Psy's "Gangnam Style" to the summit. Coming in at #3 was the highest selling single by an Australian artist, Guy Sebastian, with his 7x platinum-selling single "Battle Scars" featuring Lupe Fiasco.

US rapper Flo Rida secured the next two spots with his hits "Whistle" and "Wild Ones," with Nicki Minaj's annoyingly-catchy "Starships" locked in at #6. Australia's Got Talent winners Justice Crew earned their stripes at #7 with "Boom Boom," and Birdy's surprise hit "Skinny Love," riding on the success of Bella Feraro's X Factor Australia performance, came in at #8.

Rounding off the top ten we have the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' hit "Thrift Shop" and Swedish House Mafia's send-off "Don't You Worry Child" at #9 and #10 respectively.

[LISTEN] ALICIA KEYS PREMIERES NEW SINGLE "GIRL ON FIRE"

American pop-R&B singer-songwriter Alicia Keys has premiered "Girl On Fire," the lead single from her fifth studio album of the same name.

Wanting to capitalise on as many markets as she can, the track appears in three versions - the Inferno version, featuring a guest rap from Nicki Minaj; the original version with Keys alone; and the Blue Light version, a chilled-out remix.

We don't know about you, but we're more than ready for new Keys! Take a listen to the Inferno and Blue Light versions below.

[VIDEO PREMIERE] NICKI MINAJ "POUND THE ALARM"

Hip hop star Nicki Minaj has premiered the video for the international follow up to her platinum-selling single "Starships," the RedOne and Carl Falk produced "Pound the Alarm."

Whilst we've commented before on how "Pound the Alarm" sounds like "Starships" v2, we must say the Carnival-themed video clip adds some visual stimulation and makes the track just that little bit more bearable. Of course, we're comparing it to the clip for it's predecessor in which Minaj is bikini-clad on a deserted beach.

NICKI MINAJ REVEALS TRACKLIST FOR "PINK FRIDAY: ROMAN RELOADED"

Hip-hop/pop recording artist Nicki Minaj has revealed the tracklist for her upcoming second studio album "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded." There are two versions available, both Standard and Deluxe, offering up 19 and 22 tracks respectively.

Whilst the cover image was released a couple of weeks ago, Minaj has also now dropped the cover image for the Deluxe Edition - above.

NICKI MINAJ DROPS ALBUM COVER FOR "PINK FRIDAY: ROMAN RELOADED"

American-Trinidadian singer-rapper Nicki Minaj has unveiled the cover for her sophomore album "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded."

Whilst we're awaiting on the final tracklist to be confirmed, we know the album contains the lead single "Starships" as well as the buzz/promo tracks "Roman in Moscow", "Stupid Hoe" and "Roman Reloaded."

ESTER DEAN PREMIERES NEW SINGLE "GIMME MONEY" FEAT. NICKI MINAJ

Pop songwriting superstar Ester Dean is preparing to take on the world with her official debut single "Gimme Money", featuring guest rapper of the year Nicki Minaj.

The track, which essentially sounds like a track written by Dean and performed by anyone else (insert Rihanna, Kelly Rowland, etc), is a safe step in claiming some solo chart victory - but is it too safe? Take a listen to the track below.

After many a promo/buzz tracks ("Stupid Hoe", "Roman In Moscow", "Va Va Voom"), Trinidadian-American star Nicki Minaj has unveiled the lead single to be taken from her "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" LP, the euro-trash piece "Starships".

The track, produced by RedOne, Carl Falk (Darren Hayes, Nicole Scherzinger) and Rami Yacoub (One Direction, Britney Spears), is a far cry from Minaj's mixtape days of traditional hip-hop. The single sounds more like a pop-dance number than any of previous material, which we're sure will divide old school fans of the Barbie-like star.

MTV caught up with RedOne to talk through his working experience with Minaj: "Working with Nicki is amazing, 'cause she's so talented," he said. "There's nothing that inspires me more than raw, really good talent, big talent. I see that in Nicki, and of course, she's proven to be who she is. For me, [it was] a beautiful experience. There's a lot of love there. We respect each other a lot, and I think it's really key. We've done a few songs, and I think it's going to be very, very special. I'm excited."

[VIDEO PREMIERE] MADONNA "GIVE ME ALL YOUR LUVIN'' FEAT. NICKI MINAJ AND M.I.A.

After the leaks, the teasers and the torment; Madonna has finally premiered the video for "Give Me All Your Luvin'" feat. Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.

The clip, which holds a Superbowl theme with it's players and cheerleaders, sees Madge take a light-hearted approach to her profession. With it's sly digs and messages that clearly warn other pop-wannabes that she ain't losing her Pop Queen crown without a fight, Madonna manages to deliver one of the best videos we've seen in a long time.

This "MDNA" era, with it's production by William Orbit and Martin Solveig, could really be one of the best we've seen from the "W./E." director in a long time... and we're pretty excited about it.

[VIDEO PREMIERE] DAVID GUETTA "TURN ME ON" FEAT. NICKI MINAJ

French DJ David Guetta has premiered the video for "Turn Me On" featuring Nicki Minaj, the fifth single to be lifted from his multi-platinum selling record "Nothing But The Beat" (sixth if you include "Sweat" with rapper Snoop Dogg).

The clip features Minaj as one of Guetta's creations (think Pinocchio to Geppetto, the monster with no name to Dr Frankenstein - you catch our drift); yet somewhat more beautiful than those created before. It's an interesting clip, and we must say, it's nice to see Minaj pull not so many faces for a change.

[VIDEO PREMIERE] NICKI MINAJ "STUPID HOE"

Queen of many faces Nicki Minaj has dropped the video for her latest single (be it promotional or not), Stupid Hoe. The song is one of three confirmed new tracks to appear on her 2012 release, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

The Hype Williams directed clip finds Minaj in a colourful display showcasing everything from zinc-coloured lipstick to big-booty nudity. Watch the full (explicit) video below.

[VIDEO PREMIERE] WILLOW "FIREBALL" FEAT. NICKI MINAJ

After what seems an eternity since the pint-sized superstar Willow released Whip My Hair and 21st Century Girl, the child prodigy returns with a new single Fireball featuring guest rapper Nicki Minaj. Watch the video below.

In other news, the 11 year-old's debut album Willow: You Think You Know Me has been locked in for a release on 3 April 2012.

MADONNA SHOOTS VIDEO FOR "GIVE ME ALL YOUR LOVE" WITH M.I.A. AND NICKI MINAJ, CONFIRMS ALBUM PHOTOSHOOT

Team Madonna are really in full force - officially confirmed that the lead single from the new campaign will be the previously leaked Give Me All Your Love. Whilst we've been privy to the demo version, the final studio cut will include appearances from M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj.

Also confirmed, the shoot for the video is happening as we speak, which is then followed by the shoot for the albums campaign!

NICKI MINAJ RELEASES "ROMAN IN MOSCOW" AS NEW SINGLE, REPACKAGES "PINK FRIDAY: ROMAN RELOADED"

Ghetto superstar Nicki Minaj is preparing her 2010 LP Pink Friday for a re-release, delivering Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. The first single from the revamped album, and tenth single overall from the campaign, is Roman in Moscow.

“Roman in Moscow is like a teaser to Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,” said Minaj to MTV, “which will drop on Valentine’s Day. When I say it’s a teaser, it’s like a trailer to the movie, it’s like setting the stage and I just wanted to touch the surface.”

Minaj has also teased the video concept for the video which features the Minaj’s alter ego named Roman Zolanski (a take on director Roman Polanski for those that don’t know), who travels around the Russian capital with monks and nuns in an effort to rehabilitate himself.

The track, co-penned by pop writing superstar Esther Dean, has already gained chart success upon the original release of the album peaking at #35 in Australia and #37 in the US. Winners from the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards

In case you missed the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, some are saying this was the best year yet. Whilst none of the nights wins were real surprises, it was certainly a fun night.

Some of the non award highlights were:

+ Beyoncé announcing to the world that Jay-Z and her were expecting via the red carpet. Later on in the night Mama Bey belted out her 4 album track Love On Top and at the end of the number she rubbed her little belly. Oh, sweet.

+ Lady Gaga's male alter ego Jo Calderone opened the show performing Yoü and I (in a deep, male voice), and as the track came to an end he/she welcomed Queen's Brian May as he played on his guitar.

+ Adele performed her UK/Australian number one hit Someone Like You (which was breath-taking), so expect to see this sky-rocket to the top of the Billboard charts in the coming weeks.

On the night Katy Perry and Adele lead the way with three awards each, followed by Lady Gaga with two awards. For the complete list see here.

Nicki Minaj has premiered the video for the eighth (!) single to be lifted from her platinum selling debut album Pink Friday - the collaboration with Rihanna titled Fly.

The single follows the success of Super Bass, which has achieved top ten status in all the big markets including the UK, Australia, Canada and the US.

For those of you that had enough time on your hands and spent that time on Twitter yesterday, you would have seen an influx of tweets come through about the nominations for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

Overnight David Guetta has premiered the video for his latest single featuring Taio Cruz and Ludacris, Little Bad Girl. The track is the second to be lifted off his fifth studio album Nothing But The Beat.

Adele and Katy Perry top Billboard's mid-year charts

Adele's outstanding album 21, and Katy Perry's collaboration with Kanye West, ET, take out the top selling album and digital track respectively in the US - according to Billboard's mid-year charts.

Since it's release in late February, 21 has sold in excess of 2.51 million copies - an outstanding feat for any artist. Coming in at second place is Lady Gaga's Born This Way with an impressive 1.54 million copies sold (much of which was moved in it's first week of release). Coming in at third place is Mumford & Sons with Sigh No More on 982,000 copies.

+ Bruno Mars' soul-tastic Doo Wops & Hooligans at #5 with 686,000
+ Chris Brown rise to F.A.M.E at #7 with 646,000
+ Nicki Minaj's debut album Pink Friday at #9 with 609,000

ET, Perry's fourth single to be lifted off her Teenage Dream album, has moved over a staggering 4.1 million downloads, and is followed closely by Adele's Rolling in the Deep on 4.08 million downloads. Coming in at third place is Cee Lo Green's masterpiece Fuck You (Forget You) with over 3.2 million copies sold.
