It must be the day for finding great new Australian music. After discovering the brilliance that is the Voltaire Twins, I come across indie pop band Strange Talk.

Four lads - Stephen Docker, Gerard Sidhu, Travis Constable and Gillan Gregory - make up the act that hails from the city of four-seasons-in-one-day, Melbourne.

Their new single Climbing Walls, which features on their eponymous EP, rides the electro-indie-pop train and provides a very catchy track. Lovers of Van She, Empire of the Sun and Ladyhawke - this is your stuff.

HAVE YOU DISCOVERED... VOLTAIRE TWINS?

Western Australia is known for some of Australia's freshest musical talents (think Little Birdy, Birds of Tokyo, Eskimo Joe, Pendulum, etc); so you can imagine how excited I was to hear of another group from Perth with fresh new music.

Siblings Jaymes and Tegan form the band the Voltaire Twins and they've just unleashed their new single upon the world - the very cool pop gem Animalia. Like taking a page out of a Van She, Ladyhawke or Pnau book; the twins take us on an electro-synth journey that is both a familiar yet unique sound.

For a limited time the track, along with some sexy remixes by Lifelike and Purple Sneakers, is available FOR FREE from the groups website. I'm not quite sure it gets any better than this.

As a side note: the Voltaire Twins aren't in fact new to the scene - they were unearthed via Triple J's Unearthed Play At Parklife way back in 2008! Where have they been all my life?

Winners from the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards

In case you missed the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, some are saying this was the best year yet. Whilst none of the nights wins were real surprises, it was certainly a fun night.

Some of the non award highlights were:

+ Beyoncé announcing to the world that Jay-Z and her were expecting via the red carpet. Later on in the night Mama Bey belted out her 4 album track Love On Top and at the end of the number she rubbed her little belly. Oh, sweet.

+ Lady Gaga's male alter ego Jo Calderone opened the show performing Yoü and I (in a deep, male voice), and as the track came to an end he/she welcomed Queen's Brian May as he played on his guitar.

+ Adele performed her UK/Australian number one hit Someone Like You (which was breath-taking), so expect to see this sky-rocket to the top of the Billboard charts in the coming weeks.

On the night Katy Perry and Adele lead the way with three awards each, followed by Lady Gaga with two awards. For the complete list see here.

[FRESH RELEASE] Emeli Sandé // Heaven

Hold up - we have another beautiful moment in today's pop music. Adele Sandé, known by her stage name Emeli Sandé, delivers a magical musical masterpiece in her debut single, Heaven.

Mixing drum 'n bass beats with beautiful gospel like vocals Sandé croons "Oh heaven, oh heaven, I wait with good intentions, but the day always lasts too long." If you close your eyes it's like hearing a 2011 revamp of the classic Unfinished Sympathy by Massive Attack. Absolutely speechless.

Since it's release a few weeks ago Heaven has peaked at #2 in the UK and at #3 in Sandé's homeland, Scotland. The track is taken from Our Version Of Events, Sandé's debut album due in January 2012.

A few weeks ago Marina & the Diamonds previewed the track Fear and Loathing - a somewhat haunting yet exciting new chapter for the beauty, via her alter-ego Electra Heart.

Today we hear the part two of that beginning: the lead single from Marina's upcoming album, Radioactive.

I have to admit it the Stargate/DJ Chuckie produced track has quite a commercial feel to it which may lose some of Marina's die-hard indie fans... but if we go back to reviewing Fear and Loathing it's safe to expect that the new album will be an eclectic mix of both ends of the pop stream.

[VIDEO PREMIERE] LEONA LEWIS / AVICII "COLLIDE"

Over the weekend the very beautiful Leona Lewis premiered the video for her "collaboration" with Swedish DJ Avicii, the track Collide.

Now whilst viewers in Australia and New Zealand can't view the original video due to YouTube copyright grounds, they can view a video featuring the almighty Afrojack remix. The remixed clip features the same footage as the original video anyway. So there.

Also announced, Lewis' third studio album titled Glass Heart, will be avaialble from 28 November.

LISTEN TO NEW DARREN HAYES WITH "BLOODSTAINED HEART"

Single number two for the Australian market for ex-Savage Garden singer Darren Hayes is the power pop ballad Bloodstained Heart. In case you feel like you've heart it before, the track has been used for the recent X Factor Australia promos.

According to Dazza's Twitter account, the video will be shot next week. Whilst we wait for that, take a listen to the track below.

LISTEN TO NEW DARREN HAYES WITH "BLACK OUT THE SUN"

Darren Hayes has premiered the video for one of his latest singles, Black Out The Sun. The Aussie heart-throb will release two tracks for two different markets - the above mentioned for UK/Europe and Bloodstained Heart for Australia.

Black Out The Sun, again co-penned by Carl Falk, sees Hayes continue to ride the smooth male pop train with another brilliant track. Not quite as catchy as Talk Talk Talk, it's still a pleaser and is certainly providing us with a wonderful preview of his upcoming album.

Australia's new adopted sweetheart Kimbra (sorry New Zealand) has unveiled the video for her latest single to be taken from her debut album Vows, the track Good Intent.

Gotye's partner in crime looks absolutely glamorous in her new clip, which to quote our friends over at ausp0p, "Good Intent looks like it could have been ripped straight from a night scene from the latest Underbelly series."

Nervo release lyric video for We're All No One

Hot on the heels of the single cover being dropped, the girls from Australia's hottest female DJ export Nervo has released a lyric video for their upcoming smash hit, We're All No One. The track features infamous part boys Afrojack and Steve Aoki.

THAT SETTLES IT! LEONA LEWIS AND AVICII NO LONGER "COLLIDE"

After a very public match of who said what on Twitter, it seems as though the record companies supporting Leona Lewis and Avicii have finally come to an agreement on the debacle that was Collide vs Penguin (Fade Into Darkness).

On the 16 August Avicii tweeted:

"We've finally come to an agreement with Leona on all the issues. So happy to move on and focus on hit making!" Followed by: "Glad to FINALLY have resolved situation with Leona. Music is the answer!"

This essentially means he was paid a lot of money for the track, as well the right to have his name up in lights on the cover. We don't really care here, as long as the track gets released.

KELLY CLARKSON ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE "MR KNOW IT ALL", NEW ALBUM "STRONGER"

Who would have thought that on the back of the 547 leaked tracks Kelly Clarkson would have any new material left - but yes she does, and we're very excited to hear about it!

Announced yesterday via Clarkson's official site, the new single Mr Know It All will be released to radio and for purchase globally from 5 September. In addition, her new album, Stronger, will be released 25 October.

The first (and probably the best) American Idol winner is clearly taking advantage of the "you listen, you buy" campaign. In the current day and age it is no longer wise as an artist to release music yet not have it available for purchase until weeks later, especially when you're a success globally.

In this case as a reminder, Clarkson has sold over 27 million albums and 38 million singles worldwide. So, yes, a success globally.

Mr Know It All has been previewed by some radio stations, to which they've commented that the sound in more pop rather than pop/rock. Additionally, the Esther Dean co-penned track has been compared to the likes of pop icon, P!nk.

KATY PERRY MAKES BILLBOARD HISTORY WITH FIVE #1 SINGLES FROM "TEENAGE DREAM"

This week Katy Perry made Billboard history when her latest single to be lifted from her Teenage Dream album, Last Friday Night (TGIF) moved into the coveted #1 position.

Hear Missy Elliott's latest remix of Perry's Last Friday Night (TGIF).

Last Friday Night joins the singles California Gurls (featuring Snoop Dogg); the title track, Teenage Dream and ET (featuring Kanye West) to have reached the top spot. Perry ties with the late Michael Jackson as the only two artists ever to have achieved this great feat.

The King of Pop had the hits from his Bad album reach the #1 position - I Just Can't Stop Loving You (with Siedah Garrett); the title track, Bad; The Way You Make Me Feel; Man in the Mirror and Dirty Diana.

[VIDEO PREMIERE] Lady Gaga // Yoü and I

Mother Monster aka Lady Gaga has premiered the video for the fourth single lifted from her Born This Way album, the power rock ballad Yoü and I.

The track, which Gaga originally showcased at Elton John's White Tie and Tiara Ball in June 2010, was due to have the video premiere this coming Thursday following an interview with MTV; but in true Gaga fashion she's done what she likes and delivered it early. No complaints from my point of view, because the video is brilliant.

Featuring her alter-egos Jo Calderone (the bloke who has a eerie resemblance to Bob Dylan) and Yuyi (the mermaid she debuted at her recent Sydney Monster Hall gig), Gaga doesn't let her fans down. After most criticised her video for the previous single The Edge of Glory, the video for Yoü and I clearly makes up for it and more.

This is Lady Gaga's best video clip since Telephone. Hands down.

Before you watch the clip, let's get this out of the way (because it's overly distracting)... the hot bloke that you can't keep you eyes off is American actor Taylor Kinney, last seen playing Mason Lockwood in the CW TV series The Vampire Diaries.

Brilliant points to note:
+ Choreography to a power ballad in a barn and a corn field. Brilliant. Period.
+ Yuyi and Kinney making out. Mermaid sex just got hotter.
+ Calderone and Gaga making out. Self love (ahem) just got very 2011.

By day she's a sweet, innocent school girl in Sydney's eastern suburbs; by night she's your next biggest popstar - I'm talking about Australia's answer to the next big thing, Elen Levon.

17 year-old Levon has been working tirelessly on her up-and-coming music career with producer Israel Cruz, singing to Ministry of Sound and getting ready to release her debut material.

Her debut single, Naughty, is set to be released on 23 September, but you can hear part of the track via the behind the scenes footage of her video shoot below. Can't wait to listen to the full track, Naughty sounds very promising. Not only can this girl sing, she can move.

Australia needs more pop beauties [WELCOME] Elen Levon.

[VIDEO PREMIERE] ATB feat. JanSoon // Move On

German DJ/producer ATB has premiered the video for his second single from the Distant Earth album, the track Move On, featuring JanSoon on vocals.

The song, which is one of the strongest on the album, is mix of pop tied in with a good helping of vocal progressive trance. Definitely enjoyable and a must for any ATB fans.

Superstar judge from The Voice and Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine features on the cover of the September issue of US gay magazine, Out.

My brother is gay, and we knew when he was two. We all knew. We all really wanted to provide some cushion for him and constantly let him know that it’s OK. A lot of people don’t want their kid to be gay and will fight it at all costs. But I’ve got news for you—it’s a losing fucking battle.

The fact that gay marriage isn’t legal everywhere at this point is a joke. But there are things now that you never thought would have existed, so I think that we’re kind of in good shape.

Perez [Hilton] asked me to do it. I found it strange that one of the biggest bullies on Earth is asking me. I was really not a fan of his. I thought he was part of the problem.

[FRESH RELEASE] Nervo feat. Afrojack & Steve Aoki // We're All No One

Australia's hottest female DJ export, twin sisters Nervo are back with their latest track - a smashin' club favourite collaborating with infamous party boys Afrojack and Steve Aoki.

The new single, titled We're All No One, sees the girls feature on vocals unlike their previous two singles, Irresistible and This Kind Of Love, which both feature Ollie James on vocals.

No word yet on the official release date, but preview the Hook N Sling remix of the girls (and boys) track below. Mega club smash I tell you, mega club smash.
