I know it seems like this blog has turned into nothing more than a music update from pop artists around the globe, but hey, what am I to do when music consumes so much of my life?

Anywho, I have another music artist from around the globe. Ellie Goulding is a 23 year old singer/songwriter who hails from London, England. Singer/songwriters have really found their way into my music collection over the last few years thanks to my ex (Brooke Fraser, Missy Higgins, Florence and the Machine, Marina and the Diamonds, etc) - guess I got something outta that relationship - ha!

Ellie reminds me of a "poppier" (is that even a word?) version of Lisa Mitchell, yet there is still something unique in her vocals. She released her debut album, Lights, which rocketed in at #1 in the UK and spawned 3 hit singles, including the top 5 track Starry Eyed.

It's Ellie's track Guns and Horses though that really gets my attention. It's occupied my playlist for some time now, however it's only of late that I've found myself singing along randomly as I'm aimlessly pondering around the house.

Gotta say, I do love the video as well. I think the toy soldiers (or what ever they're meant to be) are a bit weird, but for some strange reason in the world that is, they actually work in the clip. Don't ask, just watch.

Your thoughts?

Ellie's album, Lights, is available via the Australia iTunes here.

Just recently Kylie Minogue herself featured on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge where she performed Get Outta My Way, All The Lovers, Can't Get You Outta My Head and the latest Hurts track (I have been blogging about obsessively), Wonderful Life.

Now, I seem to think Miss Minogue and my boys from Hurts may be trying to tell us something via their musical love for each other...

You see, Kylie performed Wonderful Life as mentioned above; but if we backtrack you'll find that Hurts covered one of the best songs of all time, Confide In Me, for The Sun not too long ago... and if you go beyond that you'll also discover the sexy number performed by Hurts featuring Miss Minogue, which features on their debut album, titled Devotion.

Hmmm. What a web of musical adultery. Absolutely fucking love it.

I've blogged about these boys before, but yes, I do think Hurts are one of the next best and biggest things about to hit the airwaves/shores/iTunes libraries.

The boys from Manchester were on the German X Factor last night and performed their hot new single, Wonderful Life. The track, which has been high on my playlist for a few weeks now, is just brilliant - and very reminiscent of an early Depeche Mode.

Watch the video below (it'll open in a new browser). Great performance boys... now hurry up and come to Australia for a promo tour!

Guess what was released on Rihanna's official site today? Yep, that's right, her new album cover. Loud will be out mid November globally. Based on her latest single - Only Girl (In The World) - which debuted at #1 in Australia, Canada and New Zealand, I have only one thing to say...

Can't. Fucking. Wait.

PS: really diggin' the red locks. Keep 'em I say!

Yowser. Tell me, just tell me that you don't think this bird is gorgeous. None other than Kelly Rowland commands time with Complex Magazine for a great interview and video shoot. One hot mama is all I gotta say.

Check out the interview and full gallery online here. Damn!

I'm so impressed with tunes this year, seriously. The good vibes just keep on comin'... and these guys certainly don't let me down.

Welcome to the French Horn Rebellion. Robert and David Perlick-Molinari are two brothers who originate from the US; who since 2007 have been making sweet, sweet music.

It was only on the weekend that I stumbled upon This Moment, and apart from being captured by the quirkiness of the clip, I was caught up in how awesome the actual track was. For me, This Moment reminds me a lot of Australia's Miami Horror - that same sexy house music that sounds like it's been influenced by cool lounge bars across the globe.

Jump onto their MySpace site and preview other tracks such as Brasilia Girl and Up All Night... however my favourite is definitely This Moment (below).

Love 'em! What are your thoughts?

Love this track! Perfect for getting ready on a Saturday night - Wiley grabs his mates J2K and Jodie Connor for this club favourite. Good bass, and some excellent remixes to boot (check out the Dawood & Preston remix online).

Also, does anyone else think that Jodie Connor's vocals remind you a little of Cathy Dennis early '91 style? I can almost hear Jodie covering Just a Dream now...

Enjoy!

The boys from Duck Sauce (aka Armand van Helden and A-Trak) have done again! You'll all be familiar with the global club and chart smash Anyway out earlier this year, well the boys now bring us the hot new track named after the nose herself, Barbra Streisand.

The track, which I'm predicting now to be another global smash, is already #1 on the ARIA Club Chart; and currently in the Australian iTunes top 20 downloaded songs.

It's infectious, addictive and something you just can't/won't get outta ya head. Before you know it you'll be in line waiting for your Macca's cheeseburger singing... "woo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo... Barbra Streisand!"

Love it!

It was back in 2006 when I discovered Brooke Fraser. The Australian iTunes Genius function had suggested I listen to her as an artist due to some similarities in my current music collection (which to be honest, could have been totally random/odd as my music collection consists of 115GB or 53 days worth of music - apparently iTunes tells me).

I took a punt and downloaded her then current album, Albertine, and literally fell in love.

Brooke is a 26 year old Kiwi, singer/song-writer, and daughter of former All Black Bernie Fraser. Albertine was the follow up to her 2003 debut album What To Do With Daylight, which was written/produced after Brooke's trip to Rwanda with World Vision. It is there where she met the orphaned namesake for this album, Albertine.

Little did I know the album would be one of the most played albums in my music collection ever. It produced the singles Deciphering Me, Shadowfeet, Albertine and CS Lewis Song - the latter being one of my all time favourites.

Whilst I loved the album after purchasing it, it wasn't really until seeing her outstanding performance at Sydney's Enmore Theatre that it really sealed the deal. The acoustics, her humour, her humbleness and the rendition of the Simon & Garfunkel classic The Sound of Silence... still to this day it was one of the best gigs I've ever been to.

I took the time to then indulge in her debut album which is also a winner, a little rougher 'round the edges, but the track Arithmetic is pure song-writing heaven.

So, as you can imagine I've been patiently waiting for new music to surface. Brooke has been working, locked up in Los Angeles since February '10, however not long now as the new album, Flags, is released in New Zealand, Australia and the US in October '10. The lead track from the album, Something in the Water, was released locally last month and the video is below.

Personally, I just can't wait. Do yourself a favour and take some time out to listen to the brilliant human being that is Brooke Fraser. She is undoubtedly, one of the greatest things to come out of the young space that is New Zealand.

Yes, actually I did just publish a video. Rose Coloured Glasses to be in fact. Seems as though Ms Kelly Rowland has been busy, as she's just released the video for her next single, Forever and a Day.

The song, a lot more "summery" than the R&B-esque Rose Coloured Glasses, will be served to the UK and European markets as her second single from her yet-to-named-or-released album. It's a very catchy pop tune, which features lots of dancing and carrying on like there's no tomorrow in the video.

For me, it's no where near as great as Commander, but hey, at least she's trying.

Hell yeah is all I can say.

Last week Glee season 2 premiered globally to what you would probably call nothing but amazing numbers from a ratings perspective - 12.45 million viewers in the US tuned in to watch this seasons debut (overall coming third just behind The Power of Madonna episode at 12.98 million; and Hello-O at 13.66 million).

Next Tuesday the Brittany/Britney episode airs, paying tribute to none other than Britney Spears. The episode will cover 6 of Britney's songs, with the shows Brittany performing 2 of them. Personally, I can't wait - I think it's going to be hysterical if the trailer below is anything to go by.

Enjoy!

From the makers of our favourite California Gays, YouTube blogger Ryan James Yezak gives us Peacock - another classic video using the track Peacock from Katy Perry's latest album, Teenage Dream.

The video isn't as good as California Gays if you ask me (see it on YouTube here), but it's still funny none the less. Let me know what you think!

Ever since I found this girl telling me that she was So Lonely I fell in love. Chris Sorbello originates from BrisVegas, and hit the charts with her debut single, So Lonely, earlier this year. The track, produced by none other than fellow Aussie, DJ Sam La More, went top 40 in on the ARIA singles chart and made a huge impact on the ARIA club charts (hitting top 10).

Chris has been busy songwriting in LA, and I've managed to score a snippet of the video for her new single, Dangerzone, which will be released in the coming weeks. Check it out! The track looks hot, can't wait to see the full video.

I still can't work out what went wrong in Australia with Kelly Rowland. Commander, the lead single off her third album, *should* have been a smash. Featuring David Guetta (who obviously produced the hit) the track was a club favourite everywhere. Throw the two of them together for When Love Takes Over and you have a hit that just won't leave the charts... yet the same production 6 months later and zilch. Ugh, it's so frustrating.

Anyway. Kelly has just launched the video to the next single, Rose Coloured Glasses, off her new album (yet to be named or have a release date, not good news). The video is good - lots of Kelly is gorgeous outfits... but the song, so-so (mind you, it's been circling the 'net for a few months now).

Will it give Kelly the chart success she should have received for Commander? Probably not. Damn is all I can say. Review the clip anyway and share your thoughts.

Little Miss Jessica Mauboy has certainly done some growing up since her Australian Idol days. Don't get me wrong - her debut album, Been Waiting, was one of the finest pop/R&B albums from any Australian Idol alumni we've seen. It was polished, appealed the right audience, and saw J Mau clock up 6x hit singles (Burn reaching #1); with plenty of awards in tow.

Additionally, let's not forget how commerically successful the album was, selling in excess of 140,000 copies in Australia alone, scoring a 2x platinum certification.

Jump forward to today and Jess releases the lead single of her next studio album, Get 'Em Girls, which features none other than the California Gurl lover Snoop Dogg. The track was released to the Australian iTunes store today and the album (carrying the same title) is released in Australia on November 5th.

The track, with its sexy beats and attitude, was produced by Bangladesh - who's worked with artists such as Beyonce, Ludacris, Missy Elliott and MIA. In my opinion it's right where J Mau needs to be - still sexy, yet grown up just that fraction more. Think the likes of Ms Sacha Fierce herself, that's what I'm talking about.

You can hear the track on Jess's website here, and purchase the single from iTunes here. Stay tuned for the video which i'll post as soon I as I can get my hands on it!

One of my favourite acts at the moment, Marina and the Diamonds, will be featured in the October edition of the UK Harper's Bazaar. I've managed to get a hold of the piece... wow, Marina truly is, abosolutely gorgeous.

Read my previous blog about her album, The Family Jewels, here. The page also includes the video for her new single Shampain, which is out now.

Eminem and RiRi after performing at the VMAs in the last week. Lovin' the red hair!
A week or so ago I alerted y'all to Rihanna's new single that was about to hit our airwaves and digital music players (read the blog and hear the track here) - well, it seems as though y'all listened and agreed!

Only Girl (In The World) was released a few days ago and is already making a massive splash on the charts. As of today the track is sitting at #3 on the Australian iTunes downloads chart, moving Katy Perry's Teenage Dream outta the way quicker than you can say bam!

I have also received confirmation that her fifth studio album will be titled Loud, and will hit our shelves November 12th. Can't wait! It's great to see her go back to the pop/dance genre that was Good Girl, Gone Bad.

Yep, that's right. Glee season 2 will be hitting screens globally in the coming week (although to be honest, it doesn't feel like they've been gone that long).

First off the ranks the cast have covered the Jay-Z / Alicia Keys track, Empire State of Mind, and it will also be released as the first single for season 2 (single cover left).

Also, word on the street is that tracks such as the Lady Gaga / Beyonce number Telephone, and Travie McCoy's hit Billionaire will also feature on the first episode.

Personally, I can't wait - woo hoo!

Glee returns to Channel Ten in Australia on Sep 22nd - official site here.

Well we knew they'd start coming outta the wood works sooner or later... so here's the first one.

Change Your Mind is the first track to hit the 'net off Kylie's Aphrodite sessions. The track, produced by the one-and-only Deadmau5, samples part of his own Brazil. It's a shame it was let off actually, to be honest I think it's a great track. It has a good mood/feel to it and certainly could have complimented the album.

Have a listen and tell me your thoughts!

Armin van Buuren is playing his Armin Only Mirage shows this coming November/December globally.

You may be wondering why I'm bringing this to your attention...? That would be because AvB at this stage has locked in four shows - one in Utrecht (Netherlands), two in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and one in Melbourne (Australia). There are plans to expland this to 15 shows, however details are yet to be released.

But in case you missed it, YES - ONE in MELBOURNE. And it's on NEW YEARS EVE.

The event, which will see the globally recognised DJ play for a full 9 hours straight, will be held at the Etihad Stadium. According to his official Armin Only Mirage website
"Melbourne will not only be one of the first cities in the world to experience the awe-inspiring new show, but, in testament to Armin’s love and respect for his Australian fans, it will also be the only city in the world that gets to party with him for a mammoth 9-hour set on the biggest night of the year, NYE! Crowned the planet’s best DJ for the last three years running, there’s little doubt that Holland’s Armin Van Buuren is the most popular DJ in the world today. A consummate master of Trance who has risen to superstardom via his sublime DJ skills and studio musical wizardry, Armin’s forward thinking Armada label group houses some of the world’s finest music talent and is a veritable force to be reckoned with. Adored by a legion of loyal fans worldwide, he’s a bona fide global dance music phenomenon "…
Tickets can be purchase through Ticketmaster. Do yourself a favour and snap these up quick, 'cause they won't last!

Well yes she certainly has! I'm talking about none ofther than our gorgeous Zoƫ Badwi.

A few weeks ago I blogged about her new single, Freefallin', landing in the ARIA top 100 singles chart - Zoƫ's first ever single to do so. Since then the track has bulleted up the charts and as of this week Freefallin' is currently sitting at #36 in ARIA's top 100 singles chart.

With her digital sales increasing across this week (Freefallin' currently sitting in the top 20 iTunes digital downloads), expect to see the smash hit take another massive jump up the charts.

To add to the success, last week Freefallin' pushed and shoved fellow Aussie Dirty South outta the top spot on the ARIA club chart - #1 baby!

The single has been picked up by radio stations around the country, with Zoƫ doing interviews with the Nova and NovaNation teams nationally, which you can see/read all about on her Facebook page.

But wait - there's more. Zoƫ is finally starting to get the international success she deserves. Release Me has been repackaged in the UK (along with credits to the TV Rock boys) and is getting loads of air and club play there. Let's not forget the massive shows she has recently completed in the US (NYC and LA) in the last few weeks as well.

So, in case for some strange reason you are yet to purchase Freefallin' - do so now via iTunes here. Zoƫ is, wihtout a doubt, someone you'll be hearing a lot more of.

So The Imperial Hotel has been open for just over a week now, and yes, what a difference a week can make. Last week and last night mates and I decided to join the hundreds of followers and venture down to the iconic pub in Sydney's inner west suburb of Erskineville.

Opening night, look at the crowd!
Front bar: great! The whole hotel has had a refit, but when you step into the front bar it still feels the same. The same salmon pink walls, pool tables and jukebox in the same place, the bar has grown and of course the carpet doesn't stick to your feet anymore, but it still feels the same. Hell, there were people there that I hadn't seen since it was open 3 years ago - did they actually leave?

The front bar from the front of the hotel, with the statue still!
The service: hmmm. A little left to be desired. Yes, I get that it was opening weekend. Yes, I get that it was busy. BUT - the opening night really needed a mass overhaul in planning. By almost 9pm all tap beers were dry, the fridges were empty, the wait staff looked like they'd been up for 48 hours... oh, it was a tragic mess. I'll leave it at that.

The new outfit: wow - they certainly did some additional excavating didn't they? The downstairs "disco" looks like it's about 3 times the size it previously was. There is a massive dancefloor that is surrounded by what I'd call a "viewing area" where you can eye off all the trash on the dancefloor partying away. It's like being in a totally different club and it's very well done.

Downstairs, overseeing the massive dancefloor
The caberet bar out the back also looks great. I'm yet to watch a show (as it was just too busy to see anything!), but from what I've heard they are good, showcasing some of Sydney's newest drag talent.

However, on saying all of that about the new outfit, a $20 surcharge to get in any where but the front bar? I know it's been closed for 3 years and Shadd needs to make some cash, but jeez, it's the inner west dude - not Oxford St.

Fast forward to last night. It was still fairly busy, but there was such a difference in service, drinks, crowd, the works. It looks like the week just gone was all about getting their act into gear, and it certainly paid off. Lucky, or they'd start losing the crowd before they even got it.

Final comment - welcome back Impy. We've missed you terribly, and at last, I feel home again. Much love.

I love it when I find new music (as I've told you before) - it really puts me in a great mood. I get all excited like a fat kid in a candy shop, I really do.

Just recently I stumbled across four British lads who go by the name of Fenech-Soler, an a electronic/pop/house group. The boys formed in 2006, but it wasn't until this year that they've really made some impact. For me their single, Lies, really nits the nail on the head.

Take a listen to Lies below. If you think you recognise the voice, that'll be because the lead singer, Ben Duffy, featured as guest vocalist on the track Paper Romance, a single released off Groove Armada's Black Light album earlier this year.

Additional remixes are available, and one is definitely worth noting by an artist I've blogged about earlier this week, Grum.

Enjoy!

You heard it here first!

Rihanna's brand new single, Only Girl (In The World), released to radio this weekend, available digitally in 2 weeks.

This the lead track off her fifth studio, Loud, which will be released later this year.

Welcome back Ri-Ri is all I can say - I can already see the Oxofrd St boys flappin' their hands in the air!

There is a period in your life when you're so captured in the musical moment that before you know it you've learned all the lyrics, all the guitar riffs, all the harmonies and all the choreography to every video clip during that place and time.

For me, that place and time was 1991.

13 years old and all I was consumed with was music. I had this overwhelming fascination with music that I could sing to, dance to, and lose myself in. It was about the trashy Stock Aitken & Waterman pop music. It was about the repetitive late 80's / early 90's club beats. It was about the power rock ballads still trickling into the new decade. It was totally, utterly and whole-heartedly about the music.

During that period I found Martika telling me that Love... Thy Will Be Done. Right Said Fred said I'm Too Sexy. Melissa told me to Read My Lips. Kylie Minogue was Shocked. Michael Jackson was Black (or White). And The KLF were on their Last Train to Trancentral.

But Prince & the New Power Generation. They my dear friend, were doing nothing but introducing me to Diamonds and Pearls.

I couldn't get enough of Diamonds and Pearls. Even still to this day, in my opinion, it remains one of the greatest albums of all time. Big call I know, but hey, it's my blog.

Diamonds and Pearls spent a whopping 41 weeks in the official ARIA top 50 charts in Australia, working it's way to #1 in late 1991 - Prince's first ever album to hit the top spot in Australia.

First Prince and the crew tease us with Gett Off. The video which oozes sex (obviously), introduces us to Prince's new beauties, Diamond and Pearl. The chorus kicking off with "Gett off, 23 positions in a one-night stand... gett off, I'll only call you after if you say I can..." really needs to be a line we use more often in social occurrences, don't you think?

Cream - ah, cream. "Prince...? Who's this Prince?" The almost-2-minute introduction on the video clip is hysterical. Our new friends Diamond and Pearl (and a whole lotta ladies) tell us all about how much they want more cream. Hmmm. None the less, brilliant track and definitely deserved the global success it received.

Next: Diamonds and Pearls. Bang - let's drop the power ballad now. "If I could I would give you the wooooorld." Oh, how I heart this song. He really is one of the greatest musicians of our time isn't he?

D to the I to the A to the M... O to the N to the D to the PEARLS of LOVE.

And how could I forget Money Don't Matter 2 Night? Money is one of my favourite tracks off the album, with some people comparing Prince's vocal delivery similar to that in When Doves Cry. A little bit of trivia for you - the video was directed by Spike Lee.

Although the tracks Thunder and Insatiable were also released as singles whilst the Diamonds and Pearls album was reigning the charts, they failed to make a significant impact like the above songs. If you ask me however, the whole album is simply one of the best, and will never, ever be forgotten.

Do yourself a favour - grab your hairspray, tease your fringe, grab hold of that air guitar, and belt it out like you mean it. Gett off!

I can't help but comment on the brilliance that is Cee Lo Green, ex-Goodie Mob / ex-Dungeon Family / ex-Gnarls Barkley member. Most of you probably won't recall Goodie Mob, or Dunegon Family for that matter, but you will be familiar with tracks by Gnarls Barkley.

Their 2006 worldwide smash Crazy seemed to stay in the charts for what seemed like eternity, and was covered by everyone from Nelly Furtado to The Kooks. Hell, even the Violent Femmes covered the track and released it on a limited edition blue 12" vinyl. The scariest cover of all however would probably have to go to Paris Hilton, who supposedly covered the track for her debut album... although it missed the final cut. Yeah, damn for us.

Back to Cee Lo. His new single, Fuck You!, off his third solo album (The Lady Killer, out December worldwide) is just fantastic. Whilst we were righteously informed with Lily Allen's Fuck You in 2009 which for me was more about a statement, Cee Lo's Fuck You! is clearly aimed towards some dirty bitch who dissed him growing up. Gotta love it. Enjoy the clip below.

Yesterday I blogged about one of my favourite artists of 2009, Frankmusik, and it reminded me that I'm yet to blog about one of my favourite artists of this year - Grum.

Grum, aka Graeme Shepherd, is an electonic outfit from the UK. His music is full of sexy 80's beats that remind you of a trashy 80's TV show mixed with the flavour of now... very similar to Mylo or a less-housey version of Calvin Harris.

You'll be familiar with his club hits, Heartbeats and more recently Can't Shake This Feeling. Grum's debut album, also titled Heartbeats, was released worldwide in May and it a definite for any music collection.

One of my personal favourites off the album is Through the Night, so you can imagine I was super excited to see a video made for this single, featured below. I could sit here and explain the concept to you, but I think it's better if you just watch it. All I can say is, pure gold.

Enjoy!

As if this song is not one of the greatest songs of 2010, along comes Frankmusik (aka Vincent Frank) with an acoustic version as a tribute to the fallen Charles Haddon, who died after a performance in Belgium last month.

Charles Haddon was of course the lead singer of Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, and the song I'm referring to is Dance The Way I Feel.

This version, with Frankmusik's vocals, sends a chilling feeling down my spine. It gives me goose bumps every time I listen to it, and that's quite often as I just can't stop!

If you've never heard of Frankmusik - check his music out. He released his debut album, Complete Me, in 2009, and he writes/produces cheeky synthpop music that you'll love, especially if you're fans of artists like Grum, Goldfrapp or Mylo. Check out his official site here for more info!

Hungry?

Seems as though Japan can't get enough of Ms Gaga. Well, enough of her meatiness that is. Here she is appearing on the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan for their September issue.

There is a great articale with the-one-and-only inside, also available at the Vogue Hommes Japan site here, I'd encourage you all to read it. Ms Gaga really is, amazing.

We knew it would be announced shortly, according to kylie.com dates have been released for the  much-anticipated tour of 2011 - Kylie's Aphrodite Les Folies Tour. At this stage only dates for the UK and Europe have been announced, but stay tuned!

We knew it would be announced shortly, according to kylie.com dates have been released for the  much-anticipated tour of 2011 - Kylie's Aphrodite Les Folies Tour. At this stage only dates for the UK and Europe have been announced, but stay tuned!

2010 really has provided us with some outstanding and talented artists. My musical ears have been treated to a wealth of great tunes, some of which I've just 'stumbled' upon... unknown where or how.

One of those outstanding musical talents is Marina and the Diamonds.

Marina Lambrini Diamandis, aka Marina and the Diamonds, is a 24 year old Welsh singer (with Greek descent, in case you didn't get that in the surname).

According to Marina's MySpace page...
"I'm Marina, you are the diamonds..."
...which refers to the fact that the Diamonds in her stage name are not in fact a band, but her fan base.
I came across Marina and the Diamonds via an iTunes free single of the week sometime earlier this year for her lead single, Hollywood, off her debut album, Family Jewels (out in Australia now). It's a cheeky song with great lyrics that you can't help but sing along to.

Next out rolls Oh No!, the second single off the album. The clip is fun, bright and easily grabs your attention (as does the song); however it's her latest video for Shampain that really grabs your attention. Marina looks stunningly beautiful with her mediterranean background, as she wakes up and struts along a street at night, with what looks like back-up dancers who took inspiration from Michael Jackson's Thriller video and Lady Gaga's Bad Romance video.

I've included the clip for Shampain below, but do yourself a favour and pop over to Marina's YouTube page (here) to watch all her videos. She is definitely a star in the making. Keep your eyes on this one.

Is it just the gay man inside or is this film actually going to be any good?

It has the potenital, right? Lots of massive stars (Cher, Christina Aguilera, Stanley Tucci, Cam Gigandet, Kristen Bell, Eric Dane, Alan Cumming...); directed by Steve Antin (ok, so it's his first real film) about a "small-town girl with a big voice" who wants to follow her dreams in LA.

Oh God. It's going to be crap.

Well, I hope not. It premieres in November/December (depending on where abouts in the world you are, Australia is Boxing Day) and I'm expecting a decent film. Me and every other gay man across the world no doubt.

Check out the trailer for Burlesque below and let me know your thoughts - keen?

Hurts are a British duo arriving from Manchester, who as of this week, have just released their debut album Happiness in the UK and Europe (date set for 10th September in Australia - iTunes link here for preorder).

I've managed to get my hands on a copy of the album and I'm very, very impressed. The band remind me of a 2010 version of Depeche Mode. The synths are there. The sexiness is there. And the great tracks are certainly there.

The boys, Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson, also feature our very own Kylie Minogue on one of the album tracks, Devotion.

Their lead single, Better Than Love, was released in the UK and across Europe earlier this year... however it's their second single to that same market (lead single in Australia), Wonderful Life, that really grabs my attention.

iTunes Australia has this single featured as the free single of the week get it here! I've included the video for you below to judge yourself, but I'm warning you now - keep your eye out for these guys. Impressive!

I seriously think this girl can do no wrong. She's kooky. She sounds brilliant. She'll tackle anything. AND she produces some of the best pop songs ever.

Yes, I'm talking about Robyn.

Take the below - a cover of the Alicia Keys track Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart for iheartradio in the US. Abso-fucking-lutely brilliant.

Ahh. Bless 'er. Love, love, love.

Robyn is about to release the second part of her Body Talk album series in the coming weeks. If you have your hands on Body Talk Pt 1 you'll agree when I say Robyn is one of the most talented individuals of this decade. Body Talk Pt 2 doesn't fail to impress either. It's sharp, sexy and speaks to all of Robyn's strengths.

The official video for Hang With Me (lead single from Body Talk Pt 2) was released last month. I've shared this before on my Facebook page, but here it is again for all my lil Bushbies...

And just in case you are still yet to believe me - here's the final proof and evidence on why you should heart Robyn as much as I do: the All Hearts Tour across the US and Europe with fellow goddess, Kelis.

The below video is a medley of Caught Out There (Kelis), Konichiwa Bitches (Robyn), Push It (Salt 'n Pepa), and Buffalo Stance (Neneh Cherry).

Now tell me you don't love her. I frickin' dare you.

There are only a few voices on the club scene that you instantly recognise when you lose yourself to the beats on the floor. Unique vocals that bring a big smile to your face, and before you know it, you have yourself singing and dancing away like you're 16 years old again in your bedroom, all alone, and possibly naked.

Some of those vocals belong to big, power-house divas. Others to more unique, softer and not so 5-octave-range lasses. If we think about some of the successes (not necessarily chart-wise) over the past couple of years we think of Inaya Day, Kelis, Robyn, Luciana, Crystal Waters, Haley... the list could go on.

One however stands out of the crowd for me - Nadia Ali.

Most of you would know her as the vocal talent behind the group iiO. From 2002-2005 iiO filled our ears with joy with hits such as At The End, Smooth, Runaway, and of course their global smash hit Rapture (which went top 10 in most European countries, top 5 in the UK and Australia).

Since then Nadia released a solo album, Embers, in late 2009. For me, the album is one of the best albums of the last year - soothing vocals and great sounds that take you on a journey through the albums 13 tracks. Crash & Burn was released as a single in late 2008, the lead in to the album, which for me was a great starting point.

Nadia has since released the singles Love Story and more recently, Fantasy - all with a great selection of remixes (as you can imagine).

Move forward to today. Nadia is set to release a 3-part album series called The Queens of Clubs. Each album will be titled after a different 'stone', the first of which called the Ruby Edition. The albums are due out over the next 4 months, with remixes of all her album tracks plus additional tracks in which she's featured over the course of the last year (Better Run with Tocadisco, Try with Schiller both feature on the first album).

And lastly before I head off, Nadia has featured on a brilliant track with Chris Reece titled The Notice. It's a great house number, once again she delivers her smooth and sexy vocals. I've included the clip for you below to enjoy.

If you haven't purchased Embers as of yet, do yourself a favour and click on the iTunes link (found here) and grab it now! I guarantee you'll enjoy it. Much love.

There really is nothing like a good find. You know, when you're out shopping and you find a great bargain. Or you're in a different neighbourhood and you find awesome coffee.

Much goes the same for music with me - I get a little tingling feeling (keep it clean please) everytime I find a great new track, an awesome video clip, or in this case, a down-right brilliant DJ and podcast.

Enter DJ Kam Shafaati.

Kam is a Melbourne boy who plays a regular spot at The Laird Hotel in Melbourne, and from what I've learned, is a crowd favourite. Kam's life in the DJ scene is quite short in comparison to some of his DJ peers, however he's managed to clock up some brilliant opportunities in that time - and to quote his website:
"Kam has been offered multiple high profile dance party gigs including BearNation, Trough X and FUR in Melbourne; as well as Inquisition, Bear Pride and Extra Dirty in Sydney. Kam has also been approached by international promoters and has been booked to play at Bearracuda, the largest bear dance party in the United States, during this year’s Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco, California"
I'm not even entirely sure how I stumbled upon Kam's podcasts, but I did, I love them, and I haven't looked back. So, what better way to share the love than right here.

If you love progressive house music like me, do yourself a favour and download his podcasts NOW.

Kam's website is here, his Facebook fan page is here and his iTunes podcasts can be found here. Done, now you have no excuses!

The much anticipated forth studio album from Armin van Buuren, Mirage, hits stores and online in the next week - finally! It's been nearly 2 and half years since Armin graced us with his musical pleasure with Imagine, and I gotta tell you, I've been hanging out for this album.

A few weeks ago we were blessed with the lead track from the album - Not Giving Up On Love feat. the slammin' Sophie Ellis-Bextor. I couldn't think of a better combo... her vocals are a perfect match for his beats. Love, love, love.

The album also features a track with Nadia Ali (ex-iiO for all you Rapture/At the End lovers!). I'll be very excited to hear that track... can't wait to get my hands on it!

Check out the video for Not Giving Up On Love below. God I can't wait for summer!

Mirage is available on iTunes as of the 10th September - purchase here.

So -- your thoughts?

I've just recently acquired a new pair of harem pants (today actually - very exciting!), and I gotta say, I love 'em. I'd only seen them a few weeks ago for the first time and was drawn to them by how fucking awesome I'd potentially look in them... ok, so that's not the entire truth. I was drawn to them by how fucking awesome someone else looked in them. Anyway.

After hours of searching the 'net I managed to find a great pair (amongst many actually) on a site called yesstyle.com.au - they're a site that import clothes from a variety of countries, lots of great pieces of clothing too. Very very cool.

Anywho - getting back to my pants. They seemed to have made the fashion catwalks for men in the European Spring 2010 collection recently (see the Tais-toi, Sois Beau blog here)... so maybe they're on their was to Oz some time soon...? I don't care anyway, I love 'em and I'm pretty sure they love me.

But over to you? What's your thoughts, do YOU love men's harem pants?

(thanks to Viviid for the above pic!)
